Samantha C. Paige, 36, or West Stockbridge, is charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, the Berkshire County District Attorney said. A judge ordered her held on a $7,500 bail, but she will not be released from jail after the judge revoked her bond in an unrelated case, authorities said.

Paige is accused of crashing into 72-year-old Franklin Ripley as he rode an electric scooter on Saturday, Sept. 28, the prosecutor said.

A driver called 911 around 6:45 a.m. after spotting Ripley lying on the side of Route 102 in Stockbridge near mail maker 4.1. It's unclear how long he had been there.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Police did not say what evidence they found that linked Paige to the crash. The fatal incident remains under investigation.
